Poitín (Irish pronunciation: [ˈpˠʊtʲiːnʲ]), anglicized as poteen () or potcheen, is a traditional Irish distilled beverage (40–90% ABV). It was traditionally distilled in a small pot still, and the term is a diminutive of the Irish word pota, meaning 'pot'.
