Jāhiliyyah (Arabic: جاهلية) is an Arabic term in Islamic salvation history, often translated as Age of Ignorance. It refers to the pre-Islamic era of Arabia as a whole, or alternatively only the Hejaz, leading up to the lifetime of the prophet Muhammad.
