What Wikipedia says
In classical architecture, an architrave (; from Italian architrave 'chief beam'), also called an epistyle (from Ancient Greek ἐπίστυλον (epístulon) 'on the column'), is the lintel or beam, typically made of wood or stone, that rests on the capitals of columns.
